Sculptor Lauren McAdams Selden Presenting Works in AC Gallery Sculptor and Jewelry artist Lauren Mc Adams Selden will exhibit new workson the Angelina College campus for the month of March, 2012. Beginning Tuesday March 6, her installation of metal sculptures can be seen in the Angelina Center for the Arts Gallery. McAdams Selden has been exhibiting her work prolifically in several states, and currently has an exhibition on display in Houston at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. Originally from Evansville, Indiana, McAdams studied at Murray State University in Kentucky, and completed her terminal degree at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. She has traveled to Europe to study and view contemporary art, thus being strongly influenced by these experiences. McAdams Selden also teaches in the Art Department of Stephen F. Austin University. Her work can be seen on her website, www.laurenmcadams.com. “My work deals with human relationships and all the trials and tribulations that accompany them,” McAdams Selden said in an artist’s statement. “I work with traditional metal smithing and jewelry techniques along with foundry, blacksmithing, silk screening on fiber, and metal fabrication. I always look for more techniques and my themes are similar but ever changing.” McAdams Selden currently serves as the Assistant Professor of the Art Metals Department at Stephen F. Austin State University. The public is invited to the opening reception for this exhibition at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6 in the Angelina Center for the Arts Gallery.
